What is the cost to paint at The Art Cafe?
Your total cost will include the price of the piece that you choose, and an $8 studio fee per painter per day.
We have a policy of only 2 spectators per party. If you are making a reservation please be sure to count everyone that will be in attendance, painter or not, as we need to be sure we can accommodate your entire party.
What if I just want to watch and not paint anything?
What are the prices of our pottery pieces?
We have a huge variety of pottery pieces available to paint. Each piece is priced individually. Prices range based on the size and style and can be anywhere from $2 to $100.
What is the $8 studio fee?
There is a lot of love and care that goes into getting your piece ready for you! The studio fee that is charged to each painter is to cover paint and materials and the glaze and kiln work required.
Please allow 3 days for your piece to be ready to pick up. If you are visiting the island and leave before your pieces will be ready, we can arrange shipping! (Pricing varies based on size and number of pieces)
How long will it take for my piece to be ready?
After you finish painting your piece, it is glazed by hand and set to dry. It will then go through the firing process in the kiln. The kilns take 24 hours to warm up to 2000 degrees, and then cool down enough to remove them. When your piece is cool it will be removed, inspected for imperfections, and sanded to smooth. Then, it is ready for you!
Why does it take 3 days for my pieces to be ready?
Our staff work very hard to set up your table, gather your paints, clean up after you, and take very gentle care of your pieces through the glaze and firing process. They are very appreciative of any gratuity you choose to leave for them.
Is there a gratuity option?
The Art Cafe is truly a memorable and fun experiences for everyone! We have painters every day from all ages and ability levels. We do not have a minimum or maximum age.
What ages will enjoy The Art Cafe?
You do not need to be an artist to come to The Art Cafe. It's up to you how you want your piece to look and we are here to help you along the way. If you are looking for inspiration we have inspirational pieces around the shop and the gallery tab on our website is full of ideas as well.
Will I still have fun if I'm not an artist?
Our wonderful staff is here to help! They know all kinds of tips and tricks to make your piece look the way you want it. Please let us know if you have any issues and we will work hard to make your piece look amazing.
What if I make a mistake and 'mess up' my piece?
Reservations are not required. But if you would like to guarantee your spot, especially on a rainy day, then reservations are an absolute must.
Do I need a reservation?
Yes! Your pieces will be perfect for food and safe for the dishwasher. Of course, we recommend hand-washing your pieces - simply because they are so special!
Will my pieces be food and dishwasher safe?
No. Our paints all wash out easily. We do have smocks as well if you want extra security!
Does the paint stain your clothing?
Unfortunately no, the art cafe is not wheelchair accessible. We are located on the second floor of the building, and there is no elevator.
